Medical Gloves are commonly used in the medical industry to reduce the risk of cross-contamination of patients and medical professionals as well as reduce pain and infection to patients while undergoing various medical procedures. These gloves are made from a variety of materials like vinyl, latex, vinyl nitrile, and other synthetic and natural fibers. There is an increasing demand for these gloves among hospitals, nursing homes, pharmacies, and clinics due to their high level of exposure to toxic substances and lack of protection. Medical gloves are frequently used in the surgical area to handle fluids used in the process of surgeries.
Rubber gloves are the most commonly used medical gloves in all fields because they provide the maximum amount of protection. However, because rubber gloves offer only minor protection, they are mostly not preferred in the operating room due to the ease with which they can be contaminated and become useless. In the case of a medical procedure, any kind of contamination can make the process of operation complicated and thus render the task impossible. Gloves that are procured improperly may not offer protection to all the hands and hence may fail to prevent contamination.
Vinyl exam gloves provide excellent protection against contamination and hence are extensively used in the medical field. However, vinyl exam gloves are quite expensive and are not affordable by every medical practitioner. The non-porous vinyl exam gloves are of great use in the surgical area as they offer complete protection to the wearer and thereby reducing the chances of contamination and leakage. The other types of exam gloves that are widely used are the polyisoprene ones, especially used in the preparation of the surgical gloves, and the disposable nitrile exam gloves which can be discarded after use. Nitrile gloves offer superior resistance to chemicals and hence can be used for multiple applications.
