Vinyl Acetate Monomer Is A Colorless Liquid That Is the Precursor to Polyvinyl Acetate, Which Is A Very Essential Polymer Used In Industrial Purposes

Vinyl acetate monomer market

Vinyl acetate monomer is used all over the world in various sectors, especially in regions such as the United States, Singapore, and Italy. Vinyl acetate monomer is a compound consisting of two carbon atoms linked together by a single bond. When these two atoms are combined, it gives rise to a new compound called Vinyl, which has the identical molecular formula as C; thus producing vinyl acetate monomer.

Apart from being used for the synthesis of polyvinyl esters, this material is also commonly used as vinyl additives and lubricants. This is the reason why, vinyl acetate monomer is widely used in the paper and printing industry, especially for textiles. In regions such as the U.S., the presence of textile industries has increased the usage of vinyl acetate monomers. For instance, according to SelectUSA Investment Summit, the U.S. textile and apparel industry is approximately a US$ 70 billion sector, when is gauged by the value of industry shipments.

In fact, vinyl acetate monomer is used widely for industrial and commercial purposes due to its excellent performance. It has excellent thermal conductivity and dielectric strength, which make it a favored choice as an intermediate used in the process of heat transfer. Another important property that makes this intermediate useful in the industry is that it has excellent thermal and chemical resistance. Thus, it helps reduce the production cost involved in the process of heat transfer.

It has been found that vinyl acetate monomer is not harmful to health. However, when it comes to cosmetics and personal care products, the risk associated with the material increases. This is mainly because of the homogenous nature of the compound, which makes it a potential health hazard. Thus, the use of this material should be restricted, except when absolutely necessary.

It is believed that vinyl acetate monomer polymerization could be linked to the development of acetic acid, a harmful substance when used undiluted. Acetic acid is believed to develop when heated and its fumes are inhaled. Researchers have noted a significant rise in acetic acid levels after polymerization of vinyl acetate monomer, which could account for its ability to convert into dangerous acetic acids when heated.

Petroleum resins is a versatile product that can be found in many sectors

Petroleum Resins Market

Some of the commonly used petroleum products are petrolatum, liquid paraffin, and liquid mineral oil. Petroleum Resins have the ability to form a thin barrier on their surface that ensures the water vapor and other gasses from combustible gasses do not escape. The basic component of petroleum resin is hydrogenated oil or paraffin. It also contains additives like catalytic enzymes, polyimide binder resins, and lubricants.

Petroleum resins are of two types i.e., solid or fluid pump. These are manufactured using either a cold or hot process. In both cases, the most common application of petroleum oils is as a lubricant and de-greasing fluid in numerous petroleum-based products, like gasoline, diesel, hydraulic fluid, etc. It is mainly used for cosmetic applications in pharmaceutical industries, chemical products, petroleum processing, petrochemicals, and food and beverages industries. They have a smooth consistency, which makes them suitable for a wide range of application.

These resins are generally processed using a cold process; whereas, thermal processing temperatures enable the production of soft resins. Liquid resins (LPR) are produced by heating the oil to a specific temperature and then applying pressure to the hot liquid. Soft resins tend to have better characteristics and properties when compared to rigid petroleum resins. As a result, they find wider applications in various industries including oil & gas, construction, automotive, chemical processing, petrochemical, petroleum exploration, etc. Since petroleum products and coatings are safe to use, they are extensively used in non-emergency medical settings like laboratories, surgical rooms, dental spaces, nursing homes, and clinics, as well as in emergency medical services and dialysis centers. In addition, they are also used for surface coating in petroleum-based fluids such as hydraulic fluid, diesel fuel, transmission fluid, and water used for dishwashing and cleaning.

Polyacrylamide; a Water-Soluble Polymer Formed By the Polymerization of Acrylamide

Polyacrylamide Market

Polyacrylamide is a polymer made of acrylamide or the combination of acrylamide and acrylic acid. Polyacrylamide finds applications mining, mining, agriculture, wastewater treatment, and pulp and paper production. It is widely used as a flocculant in wastewater treatment and sludge dewatering of industrial wastewater, municipal wastewater, potable water treatment, enhanced oil recovery, primary settling, and air flotation. Therefore, there is an increasing demand for polyacrylamide worldwide.

It is a commercially relevant cationic polymer generally used for water treatment due to its rapid dissolution and high efficiency. While, high-molecular-weight polyacrylamide is widely used in enhanced oil recovery processes. Oil production is separated into three phases: primary, secondary and tertiary, which is also known as enhanced oil recovery. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), in 2019, Japan was the fifth-largest oil consumer and fourth-largest crude oil importer in the world.

Moreover, Japan ranked as the world's largest importer of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and the third-largest importer of coal in 2019. Whereas, in June 2021, the production of crude oil for Germany was 35.04 thousand barrels per day. This in turn is expected to increase the demand for polyacrylamide in Japan and Germany. Furthermore, polyacrylamide is ideal for protein separations because it is electrically neutral, chemically inert, transparent, and hydrophilic for optical detection at wavelengths greater than 250 nm.

Polyacrylamide are high molecular weight water soluble or swellable polymers formed from acrylamide or its derivatives. Polyacrylamide supports are usually soft in nature and gelatinous in appearance. They exhibit a low non-specific binding character towards biomolecules, good pH, and buffer stability, due to their fully synthetic nature, are resistant to microbial growth. Characteristics include electrolyte salt sensitive, high-polymer electrolyte, and effective PH range of 7-14, and can be applied to different samples and downstream applications. This in turn is expected to increase the demand for polyacrylamide across the world.

Polybutadiene: Use of Biomass Offers Sustainable Approach in Production, Thereby Reducing Co2 Emissions

Polybutadiene market

Polybutadiene is mainly utilized for flooring, roofing, insulation and other building applications. It is a synthetic rubber having high tensile strength and toughness, resistance to chemicals and heat, abrasion resistance and moisture resistance. Polybutadiene is produced from the polymerization of 1,3-butadiene. Most polybutadienes are made by a solution process, using either a transition metal (Nd, Ni, or Co) complex or an alkyl metal, like butyllithium, as catalyst.

Polybutadiene is a synthetic polymer. It has a high resistance to wear and is used especially in the manufacture of tires, which consumes about 70% of the production. It possesses good tensile strength and toughness, excellent electrical and mechanical properties and resistance to abrasion, heat, friction, chemicals and salt water. It also offers low hysteresis loss, high elasticity, and low rolling resistance due to its low glass transition temperature.

Low-cis polybutadiene rubber is manufactured using lithium catalyst. It offers good elasticity, excellent reactivity, and vinyl bonding. Some common uses of polybutadiene in tires and other products are as roofing material, insulating materials, insulation, friction material, thermoset foam, and thermoform. A number of polybutadiene products are available both on the consumer and wholesale market, making it easy for manufacturers and consumers to obtain them. Most commonly seen products include rubber feet for golf balls, roofing/flooring products, roof panels and sealing products, but the foam itself is also used in other areas. Versatile makeup of polybutadiene allows manufacturers to use it in a wide range of ways to address many construction needs.

Market players are focused on R&D of sustainable approach for the production of polybutadiene as its production leads to CO2 emissions. For instance, in April 2021, Yokohama Rubber Company, which operates as Yokohama Tire Corporation in the U.S., reported developing a sustainable approach for the production of butadiene from biomass.
