Gastric Cancer Therapeutics; Depends On Type/Stage of Cancer, Possible Side Effects, and the Patient's Preferences and Overall Health

Gastric Cancer Therapeutics market

Any gastric cancer therapeutics, including medication, surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy, is considered palliative therapy. Surgery is rarely used, and the main gastric cancer treatment is usually chemotherapy. Gastric cancer is a disease in which cancer cells form in the lining of the stomach. Symptoms include indigestion and stomach discomfort or pain. It can develop in any part of the stomach. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), it is the sixth most common cancer worldwide, but the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths.

Gastric cancer is a disease where malignant (cancerous) cells form in the upper lining of the stomach. Because the epithelium - the top layer of your stomach's mucosa-collagen fibers-decrease in thickness, this causes mucosal cancer to form alongside the muscle layer in the lower portion of the stomach. Moreover, the submucosal lining, which contains the connective tissue, nerve fibers, and blood vessels, can also be affected by esophageal adenocarcinoma. However, gastric cancer therapeutics depends on several factors, such as the type and stage of cancer, possible side effects, and the patient's preferences and overall health.

The first step in treating this disease is to remove the malignant or cancerous cells from the stomach or to kill them via surgery. If tumors do not require surgery, the patient will receive a course of medication to stop further growth of the cancer. However, if tumors are malignant or cancerous, the patient will undergo an invasive surgical procedure to remove them. After the surgery, the patient will have ongoing treatments including radiation and chemotherapy to prevent further occurrences of the cancer.

In the United States, this condition is rare, but the lifetime stomach cancer risk among affected people is up to 70%. According to the American Cancer Society, in 2021, around 26,560 new cases of gastric cancer are expected to be diagnosed in the U.S., and around 11,180 people are expected to die from the disease. Many cases of gastric cancer can't be cured completely, but it's possible to relieve symptoms and improve quality of life with the help of available gastric cancer therapeutics, such as chemotherapy and in some cases surgery and radiotherapy.
